Mandy Tröger, PhD (b. 1980), is Privatdozentin [academic qualification for a full professorship]at the Institute of Media Studies, University of Tübingen, and an affiliate of the Media, Inequality & Change (MIC) Center at the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania. She previously held a Walter Benjamin Fellowship from the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the University of Tübingen and served as Visiting Professor at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. She earned her PhD in Media and Communications Research from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) in 2018. Her research focuses on media and communication history, political economy, and transformation studies. Since 2024, she has been co-editor of Journalistik / Journalism Research.
